Our church steeple was hit by lighting at approximately 5:30pm.  Shards of the roof flew about 100 feet away, and fortunately no one was in the parking lot and grouds.  You can see a clip of the news coverage.

Mahalo to the Youth Challenge Academy for coming to our parish and helping make tremendous changes in the landscaping.  In one day many of the projects on our “to do list” were completed in no time at all.

Finally, after 4 long months of hard work, the front grotto has been completely transformed.  The first year confirmation class began the project as a service to the church in March of 2009 during their spring break.  Many hands helped with the project, including friends and siblings.  Thank you to our  youth for their dedication to seeing this difficult project through to the end.

Our children receiving First Holy Communion today crowned Mary with Puakenikeni lei. The flowers are from our church grounds.

March 27, 2009 – Young adults from our parish, with a few friends, carried a 9 ft cross from Our Lady of  Mt. Carmel to Hygenic store in Kahalu’u.  The cross is making its way around the island of O’ahu to raise awareness for social injustice issues.

  1. The video of the kids carrying the cross was very touching. I am so proud of our youth. Way to go!

  2. This is my first opportunity to look at this website. What a fantastic job! And I can’t say enough about the beautification of our church grounds. Kudos to all who volunteer their time to do this. May God continue to bless you abundantly.
